Give & Take

Here I am, stucked at some corner of Lim Chu Kang area on this Boxing Day...

So how was Christmas? Erm... I dread the crowds everywhere. Public transports are packed & unavailable. Traffics are slow & congested. Getting a car parking space is nonetheless by luck. Of course, it all comes down to where is the venue of your party! I joined my polymates for a kind of like a gathering at YT's house and I didn't know that he was staying in a landed property after all these years of knowing him. As usual, Sandra will be the sort of like the event organiser and we all just have to show up on time (Thanks Sandra, you are the best!). Supposing she called this a BBQ but we ended up ordering deliveries instead. Haha. There wasn't any gifts exchange nor any real parties going on. Just plain old catching up with them and drinking. Simple.

I was watching TV just now earlier on and it was showing ellen - The Ellen DeGeneres Show, (the episode that Hugh Laurie was on) the Americans are just so giving when it comes to the holiday season. Its obvious that Ellen meant to let all of her participants of her show to walk away with something and I feel so good to see the joyous enthusiasm of everybody. You can see that they truly feel happy for each other, irregardless they are a winner themselves or not. I was kind of touched... Then in between the show comes advertising commercials. I was totally turned off by the Lee Hwa Jewellery - Destineé commercial. Its showing Junita & her husband talking about how they have quality time together as a family. Everything was fine until when she said, "What I want for my perfect Christmas gift is a (name of necklace), 10 diamonds necklace." or something like that. For awhile I thought she might say her family happiness or things like that but coming out from her mouth is just about diamonds? I don't blame her because its a Jewellery commercial, but if this commercial is shown to people who have big hearts of Christmas spirits & are not as materialistic, I am sure that they will be turned off too. From the way how she and her husband explains their quality family time with their baby then comes the question and how suddenly she replied with a gold-digger answer.

See how our environment shapes people into this world? See the contrast of behaviours from different environments? I know its a material world, but somehow it spoils all the true beautiful meaning of various occasions. So much on all about the surface... So shallow...

Incredible India

Sorry guys for not updating anything... Time flies, looking at my last post was more than a month ago. As some of you might know that I am not in Singapore. This is my third weekend here. I am in Kalaikunda Air Force Station, West Bengal to be exact. Everybody is confined. The area of travel within the base is only by foot. Thanks to L & SHG, I was given the opportunity to get out of base to run an errand. I hear people telling me the trip outside is dreadful, but I find it an eye opener for me. I need to see things myself before I believe it. "Run down" are the words to describe the vicinities here. It's kind of living in the 80's. Although it is bad, the food & accommodation here was actually better than what I expected. I was thinking that I might be sick throughout the whole detachment, but so far so good, only a little stomach upset.

Daily operations here are going fine for me (at my level), only some "hiccups" with some personnel working among us. The only thing that I can't stand about is, how the decisions are made & how operations run. Totally culture shock. I am not sure if the problem lies with me just being back from the States not long ago or it is the person running the show, but CMK & G have the same operation tempo as me and we see eye level. I guess OYS is neutral. *sigh* Even the ALGs think otherwise of him. This is my 13th overseas flight line detachment, I find the previous & the current are "jokes". Sad case... It's kinda difficult to explain here due to many reasons. No freedom of speech in the democratic society. Strict disclosure on information that are available on Yahoo!, Google, Wikipedia & Youtube. If you ask me. That is how shallow we can get. I am ashamed...

Anyway, I will get the photos uploaded and describe more of India when I get back. The bandwidth here is like the movement of the ice bergs. I am thankful that I am able to login to do a new post. Hey surprisingly there is this option here when I blog, to allow me to type in Hindi (their mother tongue). This is my name केंट यो जोंग जे !
